Athens Sights, Sounds and Hotels
In Athens stand the ruins of the Erechtheion, on which construction was begun in 421 BC, and completed in 406 BC, having been interrupted by the conflict between Athens and Sparta. It was built to replace the ancient temple of Athena, and is one of the most of the most ornate and original pieces of Grecian architecture. The Erechtheion was named after Erechtheus, the legendary and popular king of Athens.
There are some very fine Athens hotels where you can stay during your exploration of Athens city. Don't miss out on Athen's Erechtheion during your visit.
